Teaching English in the middle and secondary classroom is a constant balancing act. This session will cover the following topics:

Curriculum--How do I balance canonical works with contemporary and living writers?

Novels--Should we read whole class novels or have students read choice novels?

Classroom Management--How do you strike a balance between classroom culture and classroom discipline?

Work/Life--How do I meet the needs of my students while safeguarding time for myself and my own family?

In all things there must be balance. Participants will be given opportunities to hear about best practices in each of these areas. They will leave with practical activities and resources that can be implemented in their own classrooms on Monday morning.
